Tutorial showing how to use the extraction filter in photoshop to remove objects from their backgrounds

This tutorial will show you how to remove something weather it be a person or item from its background so that it can be moved
onto another background.

Now there are many ways to achieve this, however the extraction filter method is what were going to use today,
we are going to use this method as its fast simple and has great effects.

Step 1.

Open up the picture file you want to use

If you want you can dublicate the layer so that your not working on the main background layer just go to
layer then duplicate layer.

Once this is down go to filter --> extract or CTRL + ALT + X

with the Edge highlighter tool selected work your way around the image you want to take out from the background,
NOTE: there can be no breaks in the line or it will not work, touchups can be made at a later stage if its not perfect
Now slect the fill tool and click the inside of your object you wish to remove, if it fills the whole page it means there is a
break in your line somewere, if it only fills the selected image then its fine.
you should now have somthing like this:

You can now click ok, and thats it, you now have your selected object:

you can use the eraser tool to remove anything that looks out of place.

Now just play around with a background on a new layer and thats it you how now changed your background image
for a selected object using the extraction filter.
